In the last century numerous catch phrases evolved to explain the role of a customer – ‘customer is king’; ‘there is only one boss – the customer’; ‘a business exists to create a customer’ and more famously Henry Ford said, “The customer pays the wages.” Translation: Customers ultimately determine the growth and survival of any business .

The advent of social media has raised the bar for customer experience and companies are finding it increasingly important to start understanding and really listening to customers. This discussion will delve into the different ways Indian R&D stakeholders can enhance their customer EQ either directly or through proxies to  keep abreast with customers’ expectations.
