Uresh Vahalia is Corporate Vice-President in the Enterprise Storage Division at EMC, where he leads a team spanning US and India, responsible for building the next generation of storage products for EMC. 

Uresh has worked at EMC for seventeen years and in the software industry for twenty five years, focusing mainly on operating system and storage technologies. Uresh was founder team member & VP of Engineering of Celerra, EMC’s enterprise and midrange NAS product line. Under his leadership, Celerra started as an incubator project and went on to being the industry leader in NAS market share.  Uresh then moved to the CLARiiON organization, where he steered EMC’s midrange block array product line through several platform and software releases, and drove its convergence with Celerra. Uresh then moved to the Enterprise Storage Division, where he is responsible for developing new product offerings, and also manages the India organization.

 Prior to EMC, Uresh held various Engineering positions at Digital, Prime Computers, and other high technology companies. Uresh graduated with a Masters' degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai, and also received a Master’s in Computer Science at Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. Uresh has over thirty patents and research publications in the storage and operating systems areas and has represented EMC in several industry forums and expert panels including SNIA, IEEE, and the CIFS and NFSv4 working groups. Uresh also is the author of the book "Unix Internals: The New Frontiers", which was published by Prentice-Hall and translated in four languages; it is used as a professional reference and a text in operating systems courses in several leading universities.
